How the Online Distance Learning Program works:

The WSET’s London Wine & Spirit School has developed a pioneering series of Online Distance Learning Programs to prepare students for WSET qualifications.  THIS IS IDEAL FOR STUDENTS WHO CANNOT ATTEND IN-CLASS LECTURES DUE TO SCHEDULING CHALLENGES, OR LIVE TOO FAR FROM OUR TEACHING TEACHING FACILITY.  MOREOVER, THE ONLINE PROGRAM ALLOWS THE STUDENT UNLIMITED 24/7 ONLINE ACCESS. FOR EXAMPLE, A STUDENT COULD CHOOSE TO WORK ONLINE 1 HOUR DAILY AT ANYTIME.

Considerable investment in technology and training has been made to produce these courses in line with educational best practice, so you can expect some of the highest quality online training available. All courses are tutored by WSET Certified Educators who are both knowledgeable and experienced wine and spirit Educators and will hold the WSET Diploma as a minimum qualification.

With the addition of the Study Pack and Examination, this WSET Online Course is designed to be all inclusive (domestic shipping only).

WSET Level II Overview:

This globally-recognized qualification teaches you about the key grape varieties grown around the world, the different styles of wine produced and the production of spirits and liqueurs. The systematic approach to wine tasting is followed when tasting each wine. Although successful completion of Level I is not required, it is recommended.

The Level II Award in Wines & Spirits is available as 5 week online program of study culminating in an exam at the AWS location in Atlanta.

Each week consists of a series of online activities, often based around group discussion via forums, with an online tutor allocated to guide the students’ studies. A timed feedback test is provided at the end of each week for students to practice for the exam and assess their understanding of that week’s topics. Group tasting activities are also provided to familiarize students with the Systematic Approach to Tasting at Level II.  All of these elements of study are paced by WSET via the designated weekly activities but students can choose to complete the work at any time of day and any day of the week via 24/7 online access.

Earn A Credential In Wine:

Candidates who successfully complete the course and pass the examination will receive a certificate, a WSET lapel pin and the ability to move onto the Level III: Wines & Spirits Qualification.

Aim Of The Program:

For industry personel and consumer wine lovers, WSET Level II provides vocational training in the broad range of alcoholic beverages to underpin job skills and competencies in the customer service and sales functions of the hospitality, retail and wholesale industries.

Getting Started:

Upon registration, you will receive a study pack from us, and an e-mail from WSET® a few days prior to your start date with instructions on logging into the online classroom. Once in the classroom site, you will find a course calendar listing the topics covered for each week, the background reading required, activities relevant to each topic, tasting assignments (students must purchase their own wine) and quizzes. The activities and tasting assignments require you to post responses on the site. You can view other students’ responses and the online exchange with the instructor ONLY if you yourself post a response; interaction is critical to success in this course. One or more practice exams are part of your study.
