Fundamentals of Wine: Food Pairing 101
An Educational Wine & Food Experience
To experience a perfect pairing of wine and food is to experience magic. In this interactive class you’ll learn the strategies used by sommeliers to maximize the chances of making good or even great pairings by looking at basic pairing theories and experiencing how different styles of wine interact with primary flavor components.
This hands-on class is the foundation for understanding how food and wine do or do not work together by exploring how the basic components of both food (acid, fat, protein, sweetness) and wine (tannin, acid, body, sweetness) complement one another. We’ll taste classic pairings, as well as unexpected pairings so as to experience how flavor and aroma profiles can be used to create a partnership that is better than the sum of its parts.

Our wine classes provide a unique context for the enjoyment of wine appropriate for every level of interest and expertise. Throughout the evening, you will learn about the marriage of two culinary delights, including some unexpected combinations.
