2022 Barolo Bric del Fiasc, Paolo Scavino (PIedmont, Italy)
$129.99
The vineyard the family has owned since the estate began in 1921, and the first wine they ever bottled from a single vineyard, in 1978. They farm about a third of the small Fiasco cru, at the center of the Barolo zone, where its limestone and sandstone soils cross and iron-rich water rises from deep underground. The vines were planted in 1979, 1984 and 2009, and the wine runs about 1,000 cases a year. Decanter named it among its top picks of the 2022 vintage, and Jeb Dunnuck scored it 97. Red currant, iron, orange spice, rose petal and mint, with broad tannin and real perfume on top.
