Morgon is where Beaujolais stops being casual. The volcanic schist and decomposed granite of this cru produces Gamay with real structure, dark fruit, and a mineral depth that can age. Pizay is the largest non-négociant producer in the Morgon appellation, and this is their foundation bottling from 22 hectares of estate fruit. More serious than the Villages, built to drink now or hold two to four years.
