The estate fruit comes off the same Eola-Amity Hills vineyard the Castell family planted as one of the first in the sub-region, giving this wine a clarity and structure that newer plantings haven't earned yet. Expect red cherry and dried herb over a firm, savory backbone, built to open over an hour rather than collapse in the glass. Ben Castell now runs winemaking alongside his father, and this bottle shows a second generation refining rather than reinventing what works.
