Last July, we featured a Pinot from Maysara Winery from McMinnville produced by the Momtazi family, who emigrated from Iran in the early 1980’s due to the Islamic Revolution.  This month’s Brave Cellars was made by Tahmeine Momtazi (daughter of the Momtazi owners) and her husband Colin Smith.  I surmise that the name of this wine was inspired by the Robert Frost poem.  The fruit comes from the Momtazi Vineyard, as the family shares their grapes with their daughter.  At 13.0% ABV, this is on the lighter side of Willamette Pinots.  Aged in neutral French oak barrels.  Wild strawberry, red raspberry, warm earth, black truffle

Pair this expressive pinot with pan roasted salmon with caramelized endive; pasta tossed with lemon cream sauce and Prosciutto; pan roasted quail served on a bed of mesclun with smoky apple cider vinaigrette; pork tenderloin with a spicy soy glaze and honey roasted carrots; seared salmon with a balsamic sauce served over sun-dried tomato, sausage and red wine risotto; peppered tuna steak and barley salad with butter braised wild mushrooms; poached salmon with cilantro pesto; bread pudding with mushrooms, sausage and goat cheese; pasta tossed with morel mushrooms and roasted asparagus; and a Provençal vegetable tart.
