6MAR01 C.H. Berres “Estate Old Vines” RIESLING, Mosel, Germany 2020
4 and 6 bottle levels $24 (member price $21)
100% Riesling 11.5% ABV
Markus Berres is the 21st generation owner of his family’s namesake winery, having been founded in 1510. While this wine has a Mosel appellation, the fruit is from a blend of three different vineyard sites. It combines the richness of the Wehlener Klosterberg vineyard with the extract of Kinheimer Hubertuslay and the complexity of Erdener Herrenberg. The vines of Wehlener Klosterberg are 90 years old; hence the old vines designation. Soil is weathered multicolored slate, deep structure, good water supply. Aged in stainless steel. White peach, tangerine, lime zest, gardenia. This wine is off-dry, and would be perfect with your Easter ham.
