Plaimont is a cooperative with 600 growers, founded in the mid 1970’s, with a goal of reviving ancient indigenous varieties such as Arrufiac. This trio of rare grapes was grown in a small sub-alpine pocket 50 miles from the Pyrénées and just over the border from Basque Country. Saint Mont vineyards date from 1050, when Benedictine monks founded the Saint Mont Monastery. Aged sur lies in stainless steel for 6 months, and then for an additional 12 months in bottle before being released. White peach, mandarin orange, lemongrass, with minerality and a touch of salinity on the finish. The wine has a fleshy thick mouthfeel, quite unique.
