The del Pedregal family will celebrate their bicentennial next year, having been founded in 1825!  The 7^th and 8^th generation family members are now in charge, while raising the 9^th generation.  Valle de Loncomilla is in the heart of Maule Valley, about 150 miles south of Santiago, and 35 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean.  The soils are alluvial and loamy, the result of millennia near the Andes.  Being that it’s also south of Maipo and Colchagua Valleys, it’s slightly cooler at night, leading to higher diurnal swings.  Aged 8 months in French oak (mostly neutral).  Blackberry, black raspberry, bittersweet chocolate, whiff of bell pepper, rocky minerality.
