4MAY04 Fess Parker CHARDONNAY, Santa Barbara, California 2023 (F, O)
4 and 6 bottle levels $25 (member price $22)
100% Chardonnay 14.1% ABV
Fess Parker was one of the pioneers of the Santa Barbara wine industry. Fess, who passed in 2010, came to fame as an actor portraying Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone in the 1950’s and ‘60’s, then bought a 700 acre ranch in Santa Ynez Valley, and started his namesake winery in 1988. His children now run the winery with help from his grandchildren. The winery and home vineyards are in Santa Ynez Valley, but the fruit for this Chard is from eight different vineyards around Santa Barbara County, picked at different ripeness levels for complexity. Aged in French and Hungarian oak (28% new). Golden apple, lemon curd, baking spices, hint of butter.
