Ruggeri (“Rue-Jerry“) is a 5th generation family owned winery in the midst of the hilly Valdobbiadene area, founded by Elisio Bisol in the late 1800’s. Ruggeri was the first Prosecco producer to receive the prestigious Gambero Rosso "Star" classification, which is given to wineries who have earned 10 or more Tre Bicchieri awards. The triangle on their logo refers to the “golden triangle” of vineyards in Valdobbiadene. An ocean of Prosecco is made from grapes harvested in relatively flat vineyards, but the best comes from steep slopes. Like almost all Proseccos, this is a Charmat method wine, where the 2nd fermentation takes place in large sealed vats, to emphasise the fruit. Clean and pure green apple, lemon, pineapple, minerality with a chalky finish. GOBBLE GOBBLE
Food Pairing Suggestions:
Pop these holiday-perfect bubbles over appetizers like prosciutto‐wrapped melon and Prosciutto, Caprese salad skewers, truffled popcorn, smoked salmon cream cheese spread on garlic toast, caviar on crispy potatoes and all your favorite Super Bowl Sunday dips. These versatile bubbles can also stand up to first course dishes like warm spinach and mushroom salad drizzled with pancetta vinaigrette or smoked salmon with creamy caper sauce. After dinner, savor these bubbles with a plate of salumi and hard sheep’s milk cheeses like Pecorino and Manchego or for an extra sweet treat, have a glass with a sliver of dark chocolate.
