Vino Venue will also visit Crociani in September. Debbie Ruskin (host of the trip) is looking forward to renewing acquaintances with Susanna Crociani, whom we’ve seen many times. Upon his passing, Arnaldo Crociani bequeathed the winery to Susanna and her brother Giorgio, but Giorgio unexpected died soon after, leaving Susanna to lead the winery alone. The wine is aged in a 14th century cellar in the upper part of the ancient walled village of Montepulciano, with its narrow, steep and twisting cobblestone streets, a couple of blocks from the cathedral. Aged 12 months in Slovenian botti. Tart red cherry, red plum, balsamic, warm earth.
