6OCT07 Castello di Bossi SANGIOVESE, Chianti Classico, Tuscany, Italy 2021 (F, O)
4 an4 and 6 bottle levels $23 (member price $20)
100% Sangiovese 13.5% ABV
Founded in 1984 by Marco Bacci, his family continues to own & operate this winery in the heart of Chianti Classico. The vineyards were first planted by the Romans, the original tower dates from 1099, and the castle was finished in 1450. We’ve featured Castello di Bossi’s wines on and off for years on our retail shelves, including Corbaia, their Sangiovese/Cabernet Super Tuscan, and their Chianti Classico Riserva Berardo. Aged 15 months in French oak barrels (2nd and 3rd use). Tart red cherry, red plum, violets, vanilla, cinnamon. Comparing this Chianti Classico to September’s Rosso di Montepulciano, the Chianti Classico is more focused on fruit, whereas the Rosso di Montepulciano is more herbacious.
