4MAY09 Bindi Sergardi “La Boncia” SANGIOVESE, Chianti, Tuscany, Italy 2021 (F, O)
4 and 6 bottle levels $24 (member price $21)
100% Sangiovese 13.5% ABV
The Bindi Sergardi family moved from Montalcino to Sienna in 1349, establishing their 23rd generation family owned winery. The family became prominent in Siena, helping to stave off the Medici of Florence and interceding with a few Popes to get justice. While most of their production comes from Chianti Classico, they own La Boncia Vineyard, just outside the ancient walled village of Monteriggioni, about 30 minutes north of Siena. Unlike their Chianti Classico’s, La Boncia is aged in stainless steel, with notes of tangy red cherry, red raspberry, underbrush, balsamic. Nice aromatics for a Chianti.
Food Pairing Suggestions:
Enjoy this versatile red often with anything from Italian antipasti and crostini to fresh pasta with Amatriciana sauce, smoky Carbonara, Italian style beef stews with risotto, a juicy Florentine T-bone steak with crispy parsley potatoes, braised rabbit served over Tallegio polenta, cheesy baked lasagna Bolognese, and tagliatelle tossed with wild boar ragu. Or simply savor this everyday red with Italian meats and cheeses especially salami, pancetta, Fontina, Pecorino and Piave.
