Paolo Scavino is a family owned Barolo producer which VV has visited in the last two years, and we usually feature their wines on our retail shelves. The fruit for Sorriso Bianco is from the Altenasso cru of Castiglione Falletto and the Bricco Manescotto cru of La Morra, amazing in that these are prestigious crus in the heart of Barolo. Scavino’s focus is cru Barolo, but they also feature a variety of modestly priced reds and whites, including this small production gem. The varieties are fermented separately, blended, then aged in stainless steel. White flowers, yellow peach, green apple, minerality are notes of this full-bodied white.
