About Miguel Torres Winery:
The Miguel Torres winery in Chile was founded in 1979 by the Spanish Torres family. The winery has a history rooted in Spanish winemaking culture and has been a pioneer in Chilean winemaking. As one of the first foreign wineries to establish a base in Chile, the Torres family brought modern winemaking techniques to Chile. Known for its certified organic vine-growing and sustainability, Torres produces wine from local ancestral varieties, as well as the first slate-soil Pinot Noir in Chile. The winery has acquired several estates spanning vineyards in the Curicó Valley, Maule, Itata, and Patagonia.
About Sommelier Cristian Yañez Cerda, Brand Ambassador:
Cristian Yañez was born in 1981, in Rancagua, Chile, hometown of Chilean traditional rodeo. He graduated in Bachelor of Teaching Certificate of ESL. During the last two years of his degree, he became quite interested in travelling and improve his fluency in English by living in the United States for a couple of months on winter seasons. In 2008, Cristian moved to Europe, based in Andorra, and finally settled down in Dublin, Ireland, in order to be deeply immersed in an Anglo culture country. There, he realized there were more than just language skills to be learnt, so Cris took some classes of Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at the University of Hertfordshir. Along those years he grew into the administration of the most important Spanish wine restaurant chain in Dublin – The Port House Company-, whereby he developed some new needs which turned to be his more fulfilling achievement: ¨Love of Wine¨. His passion moved him to be an enthusiastic supervisor with driven determination and a proven ability to ensure an efficient and profitable operation on restaurants, maximizing guest satisfaction while maintaining food and service standards, but also presenting a positive and fashionable image of the business. He acquired extensive knowledge of hospitality and wine industry, recruitment, employment conditions and diversity issues. He professionalized his passion getting certified by WSET (level 2,3 and currently Diploma) in London. After living almost 9 years in Ireland, he came back to Chile to be a Certified Sommelier and join Torres Chile family. For over four years already, he has been working among Torres team as The Head Sommelier of the winery’s restaurant (La Bodeguita) and for the wine Wholesaler and importer (Grandes Terruños). During this year He is been moving through different events, fairs, wine tasting around Europe to presents Chile´s f lavours & aromas on a glass, making more evident the quality of Miguel Torres Wine and the company´s concern about organic production and nature. Now he is ready to take new challenges, excited to be helpful, boost sales and brand awareness overseas. Cristian enjoys riding his Vespa, traveling around with friends, doing some sports and always tasting some new wines.
