Banyan is a project of Kenny Likitprakong, and is part of his HOBO Wine Company empire.  Kenny’s goal with Banyan is to create wines that pair with Southeast Asian cuisine, particularly the Thai food Kenny grew up eating.  Gewürztraminer has become their flagship.  Rick’s Vineyard is on the edge of the Salinas Valley, just south of Arroyo Seco.  At 11.0%, this wine has modest ABV, and with 5.7 grams residual sugar has a hint of sweetness.  Lychee, peach, lemongrass, white flowers.  Aged in stainless steel. 

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Pair this aromatic white with classic cacio e pepe and other peppery noodle dishes; Moroccan lamb tajine served over apricot couscous; traditional pad Thai; Bahn Thai crab wontons; duck and foie gras ravioli; flaky quiche Lorraine; pork stuffed squid with wild mushrooms; beef coconut curry over white rice; four cheese white pizza with pesto; beef satay with peanut sauce; grilled quail with onion casserole; eggplant parmesan; and herbed pork tenderloin with mushroom polenta. This delightful white is also the perfect partner for delicately flavored cheeses such as Halloumi, Camembert, Brie, Gruyere and Taleggio.
