6MAR14 2020 History RED WINE, Columbia Valley, Washington 2020
6 bottle level $40 (member price $28)
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot. 14.1% ABV
We continue to feature wines from Stoller Family Estate on our shelves, as they provide some of the best QPR wines from Willamette Valley, and they are family owned. History is Stoller’s project that largely focuses on Columbia Valley wines, with winemaker Melissa Burr running the show. 2020 was a relatively warm year in Columbia Valley, so the berries were smaller, and the skin-to-juice ratio was high, resulting in wines with concentrated flavors. The fruit was from Cold Creek, Alder Ridge, Canoe Ridge, and Summit View Vineyards. 18 months in French oak (20% new). Cassis, black fig, black cherry, vanilla, cinnamon, dark chocolate. This is an opulent wine for Columbia Valley; California drinkers would like it.
Food Pairing Suggestions:
Serve this smooth blend with truffled deviled eggs, roasted garlic and balsamic bone-in ribeye steaks with roasted potatoes, roasted cauliflower steaks with pimentón breadcrumbs served over mashed butternut squash, slow smoked brisket with four cheese risotto, grilled leg of lamb stuffed with garlic and herbs, roasted quail over hazelnut risotto and sticky barbecued baby back ribs with a bag of Zapp’s Voodoo chips! Or simply enjoy a glass with French sheep's milk cheeses like Abbaye de Belloc or aged cheeses like Comté Reserve and smoky Spanish Idizabal or stay local with a creamy Rogue River Blue.
