6MAY03 BonAnno CHARDONNAY, Carneros, Sonoma, California 2022 (F, O)
4 and 6 bottle levels $21 (member price $18)
100% Chardonnay 14.1% ABV
BonAnno (Italian for “Good Year“) first came on my radar only a few years ago. They purchase high quality fruit from from Napa, Sonoma and Monterey, and produce it in their facility near Healdsburg. With only a couple of employees, and no vineyards or tasting room, their operating costs are low, enabling them to sell tasty wine at affordable prices. The wines are made by Jim Milone, a 4th generation wine grower / winemaker from Mendocino. 10 months French oak (mostly neutral). Crisp green apple, ripe pear, lemon zest, nutmeg, cinnamon.
Food Pairing Suggestions:
Enjoy with spaghetti tossed with a lemony cream sauce, tarragon chicken salad-stuffed croissants, ricotta gnocchi with basil pesto, classic chicken scallopini, mushroom stuffed chicken breast over wild rice and rosemary pork tenderloin with roasted cauliflower. This versatile chardonnay can also stand up to roast quail with balsamic reduction over crispy potatoes, classic coq au vin, poached salmon with caper-butter sauce, grilled sea bass drizzled with parsley-cream sauce, and chicken buerre blanc over Chanterelle polenta. Try a glass with Boursin, Gouda, Havarti, Majorero, Mahon, Bucheron, Neufchatel, Saint-Felicien, and of course regional selections like Époisses or Delice de Bourgogne.
