Morgan “Cotes du Crow’s” RED BLEND, Monterey, California 2019
4 and 6 bottle levels $24 (member price $21)
62% Grenache, 29% Syrah, 5% Tempranillo, 2% Cinsault 14.2% ABV
We’ve featured a number of Morgan’s wines in wine club, as they are humble folks making tasty wines at fair prices. This is Morgan’s version of a Côtes du Rhone. While almost all the fruit for Morgan’s Chards and Pinots comes from the windswept Santa Lucia Highlands, most of the fruit for Cotes du Crow’s hails from a little south in the warmer Arroyo Seco, with the balance from SLH. The cepage differs every year, often including some Mourvèdre (for a true GSM), but not 2019. One year in French oak (7% new). Juicy red raspberry, red cherry, blackberry on the attack, with hints of earth and minerality on the finish. HOLIDAY DINNER
Food Pairing Suggestions:
