6DEC01 Weingut Auer “Element No. 7“ CABERNET BLANC, Thermenregion, Niederösterreich, Austria 2021
4 and 6 bottle levels $21 (member price $18)
100% Cabernet Blanc 12.0% ABV
We’re excited to feature another wine imported by a Vino Venue customer! Samantha Holley is a frequent sipper of our Enomatic wines and earned her WSET III through VV. She recently founded Atlantik Imports to bring Austrian wines to the U.S. Cabernet Blanc is a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Regent, and there is very little acreage planted. With 99% of Austrian still wine, the top of the capsule is red/white striped, indicating the wine passed the country’s quality controls. In the case of Element No. 7, the capsule is plain yellow, because Cabernet Blanc as a variety has yet to be approved by the Austrian Wine Marketing Board. Weingut Auer is a 3rd generation female owned winery located about 30 miles south of Vienna. Aged in stainless steel. This aromatic wine has notes of orange blossom, golden apple, guava, whiff of bell pepper. HOLIDAY DINNER
Food Pairing Suggestions:
Enjoy this food friendly white with four cheese risotto, roasted cod with artichoke hash, freshly rolled sushi, zucchini linguine with herbs, pork tenderloin with coconut rice, herb-crusted chicken thighs with toasted farro and greens, fried chicken and buttermilk biscuits, and endive salad topped with grilled chicken and drizzled with creamy lime dressing. This versatile white is equally refreshing with regional specialties such as Austrian Wiener Schnitzel and sautéed kidneys, as it is with exotic cuisines like Japanese, Indian and Thai. Or simply savor this zippy white with fresh cheeses such as goat, young pecorino, mozzarella, Camembert and ricotta.
