4JAN06 Fournier PINOT NOIR, Loire Valley, France 2019 (F, O)
4 and 6 bottle levels $22 (member price $19)
100% Pinot Noir 12.5% ABV
This is Emily’s favorite modestly priced French Pinot! Fournier is a family owned winery founded in 1926, specializing in Sancerre (Blanc & Rouge) and Pouilly-Fume. They are located in the village of Chaudoux in the heart of Sancerre, and witnessed the birth of the appellation in 1936. This Pinot is part of their entry level Loire tier of wines. While some of the fruit comes from Sancerre, most is from Touraine and Haut Poitou. Aged in stainless steel. Crunchy red cherry, red raspberry, black tea, morel mushrooms.
Food Pairing Suggestions:
Enjoy this versatile pinot often with a variety of dishes such as veal Scallopine, chicken and mushroom Marsala, Italian herb and garlic-crusted pork tenderloin, roasted turkey with all the trimmings, backyard BBQ, honey baked ham with creamy whipped potatoes, creamy smoked salmon pasta and braised rabbit over mushroom polenta. The versatility of this crowd-pleasing wine doesn't end there. It also pairs with a wide range of cheeses from Italian favorites like Tallegio, Robiola and Gorgonzola to fancy French chèvre such as Cabriflore or triple cream cow’s milk St. Andre
