In 1887 the Bouchon family emigrated from Bordeaux to Colchagua Valley and began growing grapes and making wine on a small scale. Over the decades, they married into the Silva family and established Viña Casa Silva in 1997. Angostura Vineyard is their home vineyard, next to the winery, with vines dating back to 1912. Carménère is a Bordeaux grape, mistaken for decades as Merlot, but Carménère has sharper flavors than Merlot, perfect for Chilean cuisine. 70% sees 2nd and 3rd use French oak barrels, 30% aged in stainless steel. Black cherry, blackberry, lilac, thyme, menthol
