Famille Combard is a family owned winery, with the 3rd generation serving as GM, winemaker and sales. The label reads Méditerranée, but the fruit is from Pignans (inland from St Tropez, near Massif des Maures), so they could label it Provence. It’s a wild area, full of peaks and valleys, affected by the Mistral. This is Famille Combard’s entry level Rosé, while their flagship wine is made from estate fruit. It’s a classic Provence Rosé, perfect for sultry summer days and nights. When I sipped it, my internal temperature dropped a degree or two. Aged in stainless steel. Nectarine, tangerine, lemon, grapefruit
Food Pairing Suggestions:
This fragrant, silky rosé pairs perfectly with grilled calamari; fresh steamed shrimp; smoked chicken breast salad on buttery croissants; salmon Niçoise; chopped romaine, wild rocket, and frisee salad topped with Point Reyes Bay blue cheese and drizzled with sherry vinaigrette; crispy fried chicken; grilled fish served over toasted Israeli couscous; prosciutto, arugula and Gorgonzola flatbread; bacon and Swiss quiche; pulled pork barbecue with Alabama white sauce and four cheese macaroni; white pizza drizzled with truffle oil; and turkey burgers topped with goat cheese and garlic aioli served with Parmesan herbed fries and fresh parsley.
