Goose Gap is a new sub AVA of Yakima Valley. It’s a saddle between Goose Mountain to the west and Badger and Candy Mountains to the east. The appellation includes Goose Mountain. The distinguishing characteristic of Goose Gap is the ridge crest of Goose Mountain, which runs east-west. Most of the vineyards in Goose Gap are planted on north-northwest slopes, so they are harvested later than vineyards on Badger and Candy Mountains. Goose Ridge controls the appellation, and has the only plantings in the AVA, making it a Monopole. Aged 16 months in oak barrels (60% French, 40% American. 20% are new barrels, with the rest 2nd and 3rd use. Blueberry, blackberry, black plum, black pepper, smoked meat.
