100% Cinsault 13.5% ABV
In the 1800’s, Pinot Noir was crossed with Cinsault to create Pinotage, the signature variety of South Africa. Cinsault has become the most widely planted red variety in Swartland. Lubanzi Wines is a warm/fuzzy organization, as 50% of their profits go to the Pebbles Project, a non-profit that works with low income families on South Africa’s wine farms, improving access to high quality health care and educational services. Their Cinsault sees 20% whole cluster fermention, then aging in stainless steel. Black cherry, strawberry, raisins, mint. GOBBLE GOBBLE
Food Pairing Suggestions:
If there is a wine designed for your Thanksgiving table, this is it! From chestnut stuffing, roasted stuffed acorn squash, sweet potato mash, roasted butternut squash, spinach salad topped with roasted beets and walnuts, and herbed turkey with cranberry sauce, this wine stands up to it all. But save a bottle for later to enjoy with bacon-avocado pasta salad, succulent lamb loin with mint salsa and roasted eggplant, citrus roasted chicken with crisp potato wedges, pork tenderloin with Herbs de Provence and sautéed apples, chicken tagine with apricot and olive couscous, seared duck breast with plum sauce, spicy tuna rolls, Cajun-style shrimp and grits and even grilled salmon with Dijon glaze. Or simply savor a glass of this floral red with warm Brie drizzled with pomegranate sauce, Chèvre, Comté, Mimolette, Saint-Nectare and Raclette with dried cranberries, toasted pecans & black olive tapenade.
