4OCT04 Treana SAUVIGNON BLANC, California 2022 (F)
4 an4 and 6 bottle levels $25 (member price $22)
100% Sauvignon Blanc (Musqué Clone) 13.5% ABV
Treana is part of Hope Family Wines, best known for Austin Hope and other Paso Robles wines. We visited the winery on a sultry August afternoon, and gratefully sipped this refreshing Sauv Blanc after the vineyard tour. It was an eye opening afternoon speaking with their Director of Vineyards explaining how they find fruit from unexpected vineyards. Most of the fruit is from Paso Robles, with the rest from Monterey County. They use the Musqué clone for maximum aromatics, as this wine jumps out of the glass from the first whiff. Lime, grapefruit, granny smith apple, pineapple, freshly cut grass. Aged in stainless steel.
Food Pairing Suggestions:
Enjoy this zesty white with holiday hors d’oeurves like cranberry meatballs and curried chicken salad tartlets, savory quiches, fish en papillote over crushed parsley potatoes, sweet and sour chicken, roasted chicken over potato gratin dauphinois, pasta with mussels and clams in tomato broth, tandoori chicken with white rice, grilled pepper and chicken fajitas, rosemary-crusted chicken smothered with beurre blanc, and pan-seared cod over goat cheese risotto. This delightful white also pairs beautifully with tangy, soft cheeses like Crottin de Chevignol, Sainte-Maure de Touraine or Valençay.
