4 and 6 bottle levels $21 (member price $18)
100% Pinot Noir 12.5% ABV
Pfalz (or Palantinate) is the 2nd largest German wine region, located between Rheinhessen and Strassbourg. It has similar terroir to Alsace, and features many of the same varieties (Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Blanc). Half the wineries refer to their varietal wines with their German names (aka Spatburgunder), while the other half use the French names (aka Pinot Noir). The soil is complex (sandstone, basalt, limestone, loess). The winery is owned by Danny Keefe, who is the Founder/CEO of Grapejuice Group (the importer). Aged for six months in a combination of stainless steel and German oak barrels, then an additional six months in the bottle before release. Juicy red cherry, red raspberry, blackberry, vanilla, cinnamon.
Food Pairing Suggestions:
What’s not to love about an elegant, ever-versatile wine that just happens to pair perfectly with all of your fall favorites? You can’t go wrong with this Pinot, whether you’re serving it with smoked salmon over mushroom risotto, chicken pot pie, seared duck breast with a pomegranate citrus glaze over whipped sweet potatoes, herb roasted pork tenderloin with sautéed apples and onions comforting fall stews like beef bourguignon and herb-roasted turkey with all the trimmings. This is a must-have wine for your holiday table but I dare you to wait that long to try this velvety vino. The versatility of this velvety wine doesn't end there. It also pairs with a wide range of cheeses from Cabriflore, Gouda and nutty Gruyere to tangy blues, like Rogue River Blue.
