6APR03 Foris Vineyards PINOT BLANC, Rogue Valley, Oregon 2023 (F, O)
4 and 6 bottle levels $22 (member price $19)
100% Pinot Blanc 13.4% ABV
Ted and Mari Gerber bought acreage in remote Illinois Valley (Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon) in 1971, then planted grapevines in 1974, including one of the oldest Gewürztraminer vineyards in Oregon. Along with his second wife and daughter, Mr. Gerber still runs Foris Vineyards which is the southern most winery in Oregon. Its elevation is higher than almost any other Oregon winery, leading to a high diurnal swing, and increased ripeness in their grapes – especially the white grapes. They started selling grapes to wineries in 1977, and opened Foris Vineyards in 1986. The fruit for this Pinot Blanc is from Cedar Vineyard and Gerber Vineyard. Aged in stainless steel. Lemon peel, white flowers, white peach, honeydew melon.
