AP Wine Imports is new to Atlanta, after expanding from their Boston and New York roots.  I’m excited to see what they’ll offer in the years ahead!  Their house brand is Domaine de l’Estoile. For their Little Star Sauvignon Blanc, they went to Gascogne, near the Atlantic coast, south of Bordeaux.  The region is best known for Cognac and Armagnac, but their light crisp whites offer excellent value.  Little Star is an appropriate name because Estoile translates to “star with six wavy points”.  Aged on the lees in stainless steel, with notes of grapefruit, lime, passionfruit and fresh herbs.

Food Pairing Suggestions:
Enjoy this zesty white with hors d’oeurves like cranberry meatballs and curried chicken salad tartlets, savory quiches, fish en papillote over crushed parsley potatoes, sweet and sour chicken, roasted chicken over potato gratin dauphinois, pasta with mussels and clams in tomato broth, tandoori chicken with white rice, grilled pepper and chicken fajitas, rosemary-crusted chicken smothered with beurre blanc, and pan-seared cod over goat cheese risotto. This delightful white also pairs beautifully with tangy, soft cheeses like Crottin de Chevignol, Sainte-Maure de Touraine or Valençay.
