6APR13 2020 Bava NEBBIOLO, Langhe, Piedmont, Italy 2020 (F, O)
6 bottle level $30 (member price $27)
100% Nebbiolo 13.5% ABV
The history of the Bava family starts in Cocconato, a village that rises steeply up the hillsides of the Monferrato Astigiano. The Bava family has grown grapes in this area since 1600, and in 1911 the family build their first wine cellar. The 6th generation of Bava’s is now in charge. Scarrone cru in Castiglione Falletto is the source for the fruit for their Langhe Nebbiolo. Imagine a Barolo from young vines that sees stainless instead of oak! Tart cherry, violet, rose petals, allspice. If the name Bava isn’t familiar, you might recognize the family’s other Piedmont winery: Cocchi, famous for their Vermouth di Torino and Barolo Chinato.
