4APR03 The Ned PINOT GRIS, Marlborough, New Zealand 2022 (F, O)
4 and 6 bottle levels $21 (member price $18)
100% Pinot Gris 13.5% ABV
In the heart of the Waihopai Valley lies The Ned, one of Marlborough’s most famous peaks, and the childhood home of founder and winemaker Brent Morris. The nights are two degrees colder and the days two degrees hotter than elsewhere in Marlborough, and this larger diurnal swing leads to more intense flavors. Brent’s father John was one of the pioneers of Marlborough’s wine industry, and Brent’s daughters Emma and Georgia help him make the wine and market the wine respectively. A portion of the juice had extended skin contact, leading to a very light salmon hue. White peach, pear, apricot, firm mineral finish. Aged in stainless steel.
