About Meghan Delzell:
Meghan’s food and wine journey began on the east coast where she worked in restaurants as a server and bartender throughout her college years at the University of New Hampshire. With a Biochemistry degree in hand, she was recruited into biopharma as a research scientist in Boston. She soon recognized that she was truly a California girl at heart and one whose passions lay with a career in wine and food. She said goodbye to the east coast and camped her way through National Parks across the country, ultimately landing in Sonoma County.
She has covered a lot of culinary and enological ground over the past twenty years, working throughout the Bay Area as a restaurant and hotel manager, wine buyer, winery hospitality manager, food and beverage director, winery client services and training manager, and wine telemarketer. The list of top-notch establishments whose success she has contributed to include Cain Vineyard and Winery, the Lodge at Tiburon, Lynmar Estate, Ledson Hotel, and eCellar. Her many years of hands-on experience have given her very broad exposure to tasting thousands of domestic and imported wines, developing direct wine sales techniques, finetuning the art of hospitality and storytelling, and building a vast knowledge of wine, software, brand marketing, e-commerce, and winery operations.
As the ambassador for Sangiacomo Wines, she spearheaded the national launch of the Sangiacomo brand, with the release of the first vintage of wine in 2018 and welcomed the first guests to the new hospitality center in 2020. She continues to expand the market for Sangiacomo wines through new distributor relationships, brand strategy, direct marketing, and onsite sales.
Overseeing the Sangiacomo hospitality team of wine educators, estate hosts, and concierges, she ensures that each visitor is offered a unique experience learning about wine appreciation, estate vineyards, and sustainability of the land. Her devotion to storytelling and crafting hospitality with warmth and generosity has shepherded Sangiacomo wines into the hands and hearts of oenophiles and tourists alike. When not at the hospitality center, she can be found globetrotting, meeting with distributors and attending wine industry conferences, and promotional and philanthropic events.
Outside of work, she loves adventurous road trips along the California coast, as well as hiking and backpacking. A love of cooking dating back to her childhood days in the kitchen with her mother influences her current culinary passions. The 2017 wildfire took her home and a rather large collection of cookbooks but inspired her to give back to her community. She was deeply involved in coordinating Rise Up Sonoma, a culinary benefit for Sonoma County fire victims.
About Sangiacomo Family Wines:
"Our vineyards are like family heirlooms. They all have a story, an emotional connection." – STEVE SANGIACOMO
Our family has always felt a deep connection to the land — most especially through farming.
It all began in Genoa, Italy where a good day’s work for our grandfather Vittorio Sangiacomo started and ended in the field. He voyaged to America in 1913 on the advice of our great grandfather and got his first job at age 17 in the vegetable fields at Bay Farm Island in Alameda County, California. Shortly thereafter he began working in the scavenger industry in San Francisco where he later successfully launched his own business. But he longed to return to working the land and in 1927, he purchased a 52-acre fruit tree ranch in Sonoma Valley. Today, we call that the Home Ranch.
For decades our family has been dedicated to farming in Sonoma County. We are grape growers with a passion for sustainability and stewardship. Year by year we have gathered knowledge and continue to pursue perfection in farming each and every row of our vineyards. Through research, trial and error in the field, and critical evaluation of the resulting wines, we have learned how to select the right varietals, clones, and rootstocks, as well as row spacing and orientation for more than 100 individual sites. This approach, paired with the appropriate pruning, irrigation, canopy management, and nutrients is what enables us to tease an extraordinary range of flavors out of our Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. At every step of the way we seek to produce the highest quality fruit with the lowest environmental impact possible.
