Montsant is an appellation that surrounds the more famous appellation of Priorat.  While Priorat’s vineyards are a sun drenched ampitheater, Montsant’s terroir is more varied.  Priorat’s wines are lush and bold, while those of Montsant are medium to full-bodied and fresher, so they are ready to drink upon release.  To use a Rhône reference, Montsant is to Gigondas what Priorat is to Châteauneuf-du-Pape.  Tosalet is a project of Hammeken Cellars, a small company that produces wines with fruit from appellations throughout Spain.  Aged in stainless steel.  Baked red cherry, red raspberry, blueberry, balsamic, flinty minerality.
